Kittuni Privacy Policy

Effective 26 October 2026.

Kittuni is an expense tracker for iPhone. Kittuni is made by Sarath Krishna Prasad, an independent developer in Hyderabad, India. Kittuni is built so that your financial information stays on your iPhone. There are no servers for Kittuni, there are no user accounts, and the developer never receives your data.

What Kittuni reads and why

  • Bank and card statements you import. When you choose statement files (PDF, CSV or Excel), Kittuni reads them on your iPhone to create a list of your transactions. If a statement is password-protected you can type the password; you can choose to remember it in your iPhone's Keychain.
  • Bank alert emails (optional). If you connect a Gmail or Outlook account, Kittuni uses read-only access to find emails sent by your banks' transaction-alert addresses (for example HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak, Yes Bank, SBI Card) and turns them into transactions. Kittuni asks your email provider only for messages from those bank addresses; it does not download other emails. It reads an email's sender before deciding whether to download the message.
  • What you type, such as manual expenses, account names, balances and categories.

Where your data is kept

Everything — transactions, accounts, categorisation rules, remembered statement passwords and your email sign-in tokens — is stored only on your iPhone, in the app's storage and the iOS Keychain. Keychain items are set to stay on this device and are not synced to iCloud. If you delete Kittuni, or use Settings › Delete everything, this data is removed.

What leaves your iPhone

  • Nothing is sent to the developer or to any third party. Kittuni contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting code.
  • When you connect an email account, your iPhone talks directly to Google (accounts.google.com, oauth2.googleapis.com, gmail.googleapis.com) or Microsoft (login.microsoftonline.com, graph.microsoft.com) to sign you in and read bank alert emails. These requests go from your phone to your email provider only. Google's and Microsoft's own privacy policies apply to your accounts with them.
  • AI features (optional). AI runs on your iPhone via Apple's on-device model; nothing is sent anywhere. Kittuni uses only Apple's on-device model (Apple Intelligence, on supported iPhones) to suggest categories, answer questions about your spending and write a monthly summary. Kittuni does not use Apple's Private Cloud Compute or any other AI service, and AI never changes a category you set yourself.
  • In-app purchases are handled by Apple.

Google user data

Kittuni's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

  • Kittuni uses Gmail data only to show you your own transactions inside the app, on your device.
  • Gmail data is not transferred to anyone, not used for advertising, not sold, and not used to train AI or machine-learning models. The optional AI features process transactions only on your iPhone, with Apple's on-device model, to show you your own results.
  • No person, including the developer, can read your Gmail data; it never reaches the developer's systems.
  • Kittuni requests the read-only scope (gmail.readonly); it cannot send, delete or change email.

Your choices

  • You don't have to connect email; statements and manual entry work without it.
  • Disconnect an email account any time in Kittuni › Accounts (swipe left). Kittuni revokes its Google access and deletes the stored tokens; transactions already saved stay until you delete them. You can also remove Kittuni's access from your Google Account (Security › Third-party access) or Microsoft account (Privacy › Apps and services).
  • Settings › Delete everything erases all Kittuni data on the phone and disconnects email accounts.

Children

Kittuni is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country).

Changes

If this policy changes, this page and the date above will be updated. Because the developer holds no data about you, you can't be notified individually.
